So another part of the tour was to see how they make boats, again these are all completely hand made, no machinery is used at all. the picture of the bloke in the blue had is drilling a hole using a metal rod and wood on string which he moves from side to side with another piece of wood to drill the hole. it takes 20 mins to drill one hole! and around 6 months to make a boat! incredible, and they last over 20 years.
After the spice tour we made our way to the north part of the island to a place called Nungwi. here the beaches were really beautiful so we spent the rest of the day lying around enjoying the warmth of the beach. we went out for dinner and i had the best curry i have ever tasted, seafood curry, it had everything from prawns, squid and octopus to meaty fish like tuna and kingfish and the sauce was fabulous, yum yum yum!
Our second day a load of us decided to go our on a boat for the day snorkeling. we went over Mnemba Island and although it started to rain as soon as we got there the fact that we were in the water meant it didn't really matter! the island was a bit of tease too, it was really gorgeous but privately owned so we couldnt go to it!
ahhh, dont we look cute!
that night a load of us decided to hit the town, we had a seafood buffet for dinner, octopus curry by far the best thing on the menu! we went to a few bars, we watched the sun set over the sea again, we gossiped about people who weren't our (yep,
all the girls, me, henriette, katie, norelle, youngbin, vicki and elisa!
