Sara and Gav's Worldwide Tour!

since our 7 year anniversary was going to be spent sitting on a bus and not being a fun day we celebrated it together lying on a gorgeous beach in Zanzibar a few days early! the day was fantastic, not doing anything, just relaxing together, not seeing anyone, just taking the day as it came. we went in the sea which just amazed me at its clarity, i've never seen water as clear! we watched the sunset whilst swinging on a hammock, went for a nice meal, and had some tlc together. just wonderful.

the next day we returned to stonetown in the south of the island and decided to take a trip out
to Jazani Chwaba Bay National Park to see the red Colobus monkey - only found in this forest in the world! they even tried to export them to a different island but they didn't survive. they were a lot smaller than i had expected but were great to watch jumping all over the trees and along the ground to find their next feed. we saw them grooming eachother too, that was cute. they were jumping all around us at one point, i love monkeys!! we also went on a walk through the mangroves but we saw loads of them in australia so they weren't quite as exciting

AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! the dreaded squat toilet!! I couldn't resist putting this photo on to let you in on my daily dilemna, luckily at least once a day we had a real toilet seat, even if it wasn't a flush toilet, some of the squat holes were so small, a very good aim required!!

The next place we stayed at was called the snake park and although i had to bug gav into coming at first he really enjoyed it once there! and we got to see the worlds most venomous snake - ok behind a glass cage but thats where you would want it to be! the black mamba is the most venomous snake and is only found in africa, I don't think its the most painful though. there was another snake though the boomslong which is a deadly venomous snake to which there is no anti-venom loose in a tree, with nothing to stop it potentially biting you! that was bit scary but we watched it for about 15mins and it didn't move a muscle so I guess we were ok! as well as snakes they also had a load of birds, and crocodiles, they actually breed them and release them into the wild. this is gav with a 1 year old croc, bless!
